What The News Didn’t Share About the LA Fires..

Inspiring stories from within our own community

Today, I’m diving into our new documentary covering the impact of the recent LA wildfires on the T1D community and how volunteers swooped in to help, our latest podcast episode covering what’s coming in diabetes tech this year, and a great opportunity to help advance diabetes research and innovations with T1D Exchange. Let’s get to it!

The LA wildfires’ impact on the T1D community

In January 2025, wildfires tore through Los Angeles, forcing many with type 1 diabetes to flee—losing their homes and life-saving supplies in an instant. But out of devastation came resilience. Volunteers affiliated with You’re Just My Type led a nationwide effort to get critical supplies into the hands of those who needed them most. In our new documentary, A Community United, we share the stories you didn’t hear on the news – watch now.

Disclaimer: All funding received for this documentary went directly to supporting the production of the film. It was important to both me and our director, fellow T1D Dylan Leonard, that we did not accept compensation from this project.
